Rain 03:05
Rain Is the emotion of the world Washing over the paths And the pavements That we choose to follow Shall we stand in the rain Together or alone As a rock To experience the river flow Or shall we hide Beneath the sands of the desert Isolated from the pain of the world And never knowing the joys of passion. I think I will stand in the rain a while And let the tears scoop over me For it's good to get wet Sometimes. Charles Antony

Restless 02:09
So restless is the soul that needs to wander That dares to question and point the finger While we scratch out our names in the sand In silence will we take our warmth from the sun As we stumble forever on paths of broken stone. In anger will we curse the Thunder Gods Who lead us in to temptation up the side of the mountain. How many roads to glory can we take ? As we struggle towards so much light At the end of so many tunnels. When all the time, the answers we seek Lie shimmering back through looking glass eyes. Charles Antony

Shadow Side 08:11

Do you recall How we gazed in the mirror and saw two peacocks peering back at us before turning to walk the path of kings on the lonely mountain. The mists of expectation kissed the landscape, so they couldn't tell whether the shadows were guiding or following them as they entered the lair of the dragon. They wrapped their feathers around each other for strength and support, in case the beast awoke, but the dragon slept on and would not be disturbed today. Then, as the path wound upwards on the side of the lonely mountain, the peacocks looked back and found that they had left some of their darkness behind in the belly of the earth. And, as the air thinned, they began to stretch their wings, so that others may see the way up the mountain. As we looked in the mirror, the peacocks continued climbing but now on separate paths, Sometimes parallel, sometimes crossing. but never far apart. Charles Antony

Some might say that the Hollow Man is not a person, but a state of mind But me, I 'm not so sure I first noticed him many years ago waving to me across the street before disappearing back into the pavement I shook his hand once, His grip as his grasp of reality was tentative indeed And I saw in his eyes, many lives Each more empty than the last "Unfortunately, my life has not been fulfilling" He told me, as I checked for cracks in the mirror I urged him to show me something daring, exciting or shocking in his life "I think I am losing the power of speech" Was all he could whisper, with a tear in his eye We parted on cordial terms "I will always be around to remind you of what might have been" He murmured, before disolving slowly into the carpet Some might say that the Hollow Man is not a person, but a state of mind So what does that make me? They found him some weeks later lying face down in the Sea of Dreams The water had long since evaporated and I knew then that he had pronounced himself Dead on Arrival. Charles Antony

O how your silence may stir the heart of a nation as the fare for the ferryman balances precariously on your tongue Though your ears are deaf to the sound of the wailing man whose grief will echo through the corridors of the whispering lands And your eyes may not see the lines of tribute from those you never met Your pale hands will still touch the life of the common man For amid the incense of damp petals You may rest a while Locked within your slumber Sleeping without dreaming Charles Antony

With the last beat of my heart I will bang the drum of forgiveness That quakes and shivers in some dusty corner. With the last drop of my blood I will feed the sons and the daughters That thirst for the knowledge in some unknown desert And with the last flow of my tears I will cleanse the wrongs of the past That cling to the coats of the lost and alone. Charles Antony

Guitars & percussions by Michael Parque Somewhere out of Calvary The man walked with strange courage and forbearing The troubles of the world had cascaded from the sky that night and come to rest firmly on his shoulders. He shuffled slowly through dusty paths that millions had trod before. The weight he carried, he could share with no-one, for he carried a destiny that must be kept safe for all time. Somewhere, years later, the scribblings of a mad man, who had witnessed the departure of the stranger out of Calvary were found not on this Earth nor any other Earth but etched on to the back of someone’s mind Charles Antony

The Becoming 04:26
I am the becoming Flitting from twilight to shadow From shadow to beyond Water and glass no longer hold my form There was blood on my pillow last night It was not mine You have wounds on your neck this morning Some of the village girls are wearing scarves. I am the becoming Hollow eyed strangers consider me friend I do not know them Have they stolen my amulet ? Desire for food is waning But I constant thirst I can see through your skin You are even more beautiful in moonlight. I am the becoming Sense of smell is increasing I want to taste your sex I have seen you stroking orchids in the Garden of Fools Your crucifix is interesting But will not protect your breasts The Gardener went missing today I have forgotten his name. I am the becoming Your pulse quickens in the darkness My invisibility is a curse Sunlight is a problem You do not recognise me I left a rose on your pillow last night More girls in the village are wearing scarves My thirst is greater than before. I am the becoming I have locked away the silver and taken to sleeping in the attic The view to your bedroom is so much better up here You whisper your prayers In vain, I think Your neck wounds are not healing I feel no pain. I am the becoming My reality is fluid Are we still lovers consuming each other To the sound of beating wings You no longer walk in the Garden of Fools to caress the wild orchids I am having trouble with gravity and sleeping. I am the becoming You did not leave your bed today Doctor Arnbert thinks you have anaemia He is worried about your neck wounds My hearing is sharper but my eyesight is fading I will come to visit tonight The smell of garlic makes me sneeze. I am the becoming There was another funeral in the village today and I cannot stop sneezing Your breathing is very shallow Doctor Arnbert has nailed your shutters tight I am starting to feel pain and miss you already I need to sleep a while. I am the becoming Your lips are sealed Our love will be unspoken I put a rose on your grave today The village girls have started dancing again I need more sleep I need to be with you again and understand what I have become Charles Antony

Solitude 02:25
Solitude In your solitude You may wake to see the morning Without distraction Without fear In your solitude You may bask in isolation Without dependence Without guilt In your solitude You may grow within your silence Without critique Without shame In your solitude You may grasp your self-achievement And survive the loneliness that insecurity brings Charles Antony

True Colors 02:58
If I could paint a picture to make the pain go away Don't you know that I would If I could If I showed you some colours Would the hurt disappear? Don't you know that I would If I could But the clouds within your landscape are full of summer rain And the tears that brush your pillow can help to ease the pain For the splashes on the paper are the colours from inside but the choice of how to use them Is what we must decide. If you could paint a picture To make the pain go away? Don't you know that it would If you could If you found your true colours Would the hurt disappear Don't you know that it would If you could. The Bus Stop 01:57
I know that you're awake For I've seen you standing at the bus stop but you didn't climb on board Not this time anyway. You were wearing your cloak of madness and your hair was dancing in the wind. And while the stormclouds threatened You felt no need for shelter as the buses ambled by Alone and proud you stood For how long I'm not so sure The choice of destination Is yours And yours alone And not mine. Charles Antony

about

PINCH OF HUNGER France

The "Pinch of Hunger" project started with the idea of highlighting Charles Antony’s poetry through some alternative music. Charles’ mellifluous voice,
mixed with hypnotic rhythms, will take you on a musical journey where you will bathe
in pretty diverse atmospheres.

My friend Chris Silver T. honoured me with his presence, bringing along his somewhat twisted/sampled/distorted
drum patterns.
